PHLEBOTOMY

Overview:

The primary objective of Phlebotomy is to provide students with the hands-on training necessary to offer high-quality care to patients while working alongside other qualified health care professionals. Course offerings include training in hospitals, nursing homes and home health agencies, as well as courses of study and practice in skills related to patient care. Students divide their time between classroom and laboratory instruction to best equip them to secure entry level employment in the health care or nursing industry.

 

 
Phlebotomy Objectives

To have a thorough understanding of both anatomy and venipuncture techniques 

 

Assist students in developing professional attitudes and ethics 

 

Collect and process blood specimens in a safe manner and according to laboratory protocol 

 

Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and safety 

 

Demonstrate basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of body systems

ADMISSIONS, POLICIES and PROCEDURES

***  ADMISSION PROCESS IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL ALL FEES ARE PAID IN FULL AND ALL STEPS ARE COMPLETED; THEREAFTER, ADMINISTRATION WILL REVIEW ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS  *** 

Background check MUST be completed and the results received BEFORE starting the enrollment application!  May take up to 72 hours to get background results.  Your enrollment application will NOT be accepted by Petra College without background check results.

 

STEP 1: BACKGROUND CHECK (Do NOT skip this step!)

The  $45 background fee MUST be paid before completing the background check form. Background check will NOT be processed until background fee is paid in full.

STEP 2: ENROLLMENT APPLICATION

The $100.00 enrollment fee MUST be paid before completing the enrollment application. Enrollment application will NOT be accepted until enrollment fee is paid in full.

  • REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO ATTACH TO MEDICAL ASSISTANT, NURSING ASSISTANT and PHLEBOTOMY ENROLLMENT APPLICATION:

  • ID / Drivers License

  • Social Security Card

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • School Transcripts

  • Immunization Records

  • TB Test

  • Covid-19 Shots Records

  • Current Certifications (if any)

  • ACT Score (if any) 

 

STEP 3: SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT

After paying the $100.00 enrollment fee and completing steps 1&2, please schedule to complete the Accuplacer exam and interview appointment. This appointment may take up to 2 hours.

STEP 4: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Petra College offers a payment plan option for students who need flexibility in covering tuition costs. Additionally, for those requiring financial assistance, Petra College has partnered with Climb Loan to provide financing options.

 

If you choose to apply for a Climb Loan

You will be required to make a down payment and cover additional fees.

The 20% deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances.

 

Approval is subject to administration review, and the college reserves the right to accept or reject loan applications at its discretion.
